Scammers pretend to be him on Facebook to scam fans

While Kendji Girac is still hospitalized in Bordeaux, our colleagues from BFM Tech & Co spotted that scammers were taking advantage of his gunshot wound to try to scam his fans on Facebook. They did not wait very long to usurp the identity of the singer, and even that of his mother, in order to gain their trust, start a discussion and then extract money from them. For example, a first post was posted on a Facebook account entitled “Kendji Girac”.

“Hello friends, I have received all your messages of encouragement and love. I really appreciate it. Thank you for the support, know that I am doing better. If you have any questions or for personal reasons, do not hesitate to send me a message directly on Messenger or send me a friend request, kisses,” we can read. The publication is accompanied by a (fake) photo of the singer on a hospital bed.

Watch out for spelling mistakes

In another post spotted by BFM, a scammer poses as Carmen, the mother of the 27-year-old artist. His long message returns to Kendji Girac’s injury and thanks the fans for their support. “Currently, Kendji is in a coma. We pray for his recovery and we need your blessings and support as fans,” it read. To help the family “in this difficult time”, Internet users are asked to click on a link to the carmen544 account.

Although many Internet users quickly understood that it was not the real Kendji, others still fell for it and wished him a good recovery. If you have any doubt, a clue can help you: spelling mistakes. Scammers’ publications are very often full of them. It is also recommended to never click on a link that seems suspicious to you.
