Sauerlach – survey on the orientation of the new high school – district of Munich

Sauerlach should get a high school – but what kind? The municipal council will deal with this question about the training direction of the new school next Thursday. In order to get an idea of the mood beforehand, the municipal councils of the CSU, SPD and FDP have started an online survey. She can be reached via the Facebook page of the Sauerlacher CSU and gives the options for a language, social science, economics or natural science high school – with the latter having garnered the most votes to date.

Of course, the decision on the training direction is not the responsibility of the municipality, but of the Ministry of Education – which, however, takes the proposal of the provider into account. At the Sauerlacher Gymnasium, this is the special-purpose association for state secondary schools in the south of the district of Munich, to which Oberhaching, Grünwald and Brunnthal as well as the district also belong in addition to the municipality.

The Free Voters already applied for an economic and social science education in 2020

Regarding the question of the training direction of the new school, the district parliamentary group of free voters submitted an application at the end of 2020, according to which an economics and social sciences high school should be built in Sauerlach. These offers would be missing in the immediate vicinity, it said in the justification. The request from her FW parliamentary group has not yet been dealt with, says Sauerlach Mayor and District Councilor Barbara Bogner (Independent Citizens’ Association). In this context, however, she wanted to encourage the creation of an overview of the surrounding high schools with their respective training opportunities. “Because our goal must be to close existing gaps,” says Bogner.

In February 2021, the finance and culture ministries gave the go-ahead for a high school in Sauerlach. This should be designed for around 900 schoolchildren and be built near the S-Bahn station. The municipal council has considered the property on Sommerstraße, which was previously used for agriculture. With regard to the schedule, Mayor Bogner emphasizes that the grammar school – if one wants to tap the funding from the Free State – must go into operation by 2027 at the latest.
