The “Daily Show” is comparable to the “heute show”: Current events are commented on in a satirical way. Jon Stewart returns just in time for the US election year.

Nine years after leaving the “Daily Show”, the US comedian returns Jon Stewart (61) returns as host of the satirical show. He will moderate the show every Monday in the current US election year from February 12th, US media reported. Stewart could use his “brilliant wit” to help provide the necessary clarity in an election year full of empty platitudes, said Chris McCarthy, head of Showtime/MTV Entertainment Studios, in a statement. The next president will be elected in the USA in November.

Stewart hosted the satirical news program “Daily Show” for the TV channel Comedy Central from 1999 to 2015 and received numerous awards for it. His successor at the “Daily Show” was South African comedian Trevor Noah, who left the post at the end of 2022. After Noah’s exit, there were changing guest presenters.

After 2015, Stewart initiated various film and television projects, including his own show on the streaming provider Apple TV+.
