Almost two years ago, when the Beethoven year was celebrated with lots of streams instead of live concerts and trips to the south could at best be dreamed of, this format came at just the right time: the choreographer Sasha Waltz made her way to ancient Delphi with her ensemble, where Teodor Currentzis conducted Ludwig van Beethoven’s Seventh Symphony in A major in the open air. In the second and fourth movement, the dance entourage of Sasha Waltz & Guests meandered through the orchestra, nibbled around the conductor’s podium, strolled along glowing summer paths, wandered over the remains of temples and were accompanied at every step by cameras, which sometimes took in the view far out into let the fabulous natural scenery roam.
