On August 10, 2022, another Galaxy Unpacked event was held by Samsung. The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 and the Galaxy Z Fold 4 were presented there. The South Korean manufacturer also presented a new smartwatch and new Galaxy Buds.
On August 10th, 2022, the latest Galaxy Unpacked event took place. In the run-up there were some indications of the devices that were to be presented. We’re going to tell you everything you need to know about the new products.
New smartphones at Samsung’s Unpacked event
The invitation to the event actually already showed what there would be to see (among other things): The brand new Galaxy Z Flip 4. But that was by no means all! A new model from the other folding mobile phone series was also presented at the event: the Galaxy Z Fold 4.
Will there also be a new Galaxy Watch and new Galaxy Buds?
At the Galaxy Unpacked event, not only new smartphones were shown, but also a Galaxy Watch and Galaxy Buds. The previous rumors were based on a pre-order campaign on the US Samsung website. There, the company advertised that interested parties who purchase multiple products presented at the event could receive a discount of up to $200.00. In addition to the smartphones, there was also talk of a new Galaxy Watch and new Galaxy Buds.

When it comes to folding smartphones, Samsung is considered a pioneer. With the new, fourth generation, the company has now overcome the initial difficulties of this kind. Samsung has now presented four new devices: the Galaxy Z Fold4, the Galaxy Z Flip4, the Galaxy Watch5 and the Galaxy Buds2 Pro. Here is the most important information about the technical highlights:
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold4
In the past, Samsung had to struggle with some problems with its folding smartphones – but these are said to have been overcome in the meantime. And the new Galaxy Z Fold4 certainly looks impressive at first glance! With a robust aluminum frame and durable Gorilla Glass, the smartphone is up to all the demands of everyday life. When opened, the Galaxy Z Fold4 with a 7.6-inch screen diagonal almost doubles the display area you are used to from smartphones. That makes it a possible replacement for a tablet. The device also has four different cameras and is powered by a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor. The “Under Display Camera” in the main screen, which can be completely hidden in the screen, is particularly interesting.
You can order the Galaxy Z Fold4 with 1 terabyte of storage and/or in the color burgundy exclusively in the Samsung online shop. The prices for the smartphone are between 1799.00 and 2159.00 euros and you can choose between the colors gray green, phantom black, beige and burgundy.
If you pre-order the new foldable from Samsung, you can trade in your old phone at the same time. In addition to the appropriate purchase value, you will then get 200.00 euros on top of it. You also get one year of Samsung Care+ for free.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip4
The Galaxy Z Flip4 is basically the opposite of the Fold4: Here you can fold the usual 6.7-inch display so that your smartphone is particularly handy. According to the manufacturer, the device is particularly aimed at those who use Instagram frequently. Because the FlexCam mode should be as easy as possible to create videos or group selfies. Samsung has also worked with Meta to optimize the new smartphone for Instagram, WhatsApp and Facebook apps. In order to make the Galaxy Z Flip4 even more interesting for the young target group, you have numerous personalization options with the smartphone when it comes to design and equipment.
So that you don’t have to open your smartphone all the time, you can use the cover screen to make calls or reply to text messages, for example. Otherwise, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 is also installed in the Flip4 and the battery convinces with 3,700 milliampere hours. In addition, according to IPX8, the device is waterproof to a depth of one meter for half an hour.
Samsung offers you the opportunity to customize the design of the cell phone according to your own ideas. In the Bespoke Studio you have the choice of lens colors and frame options in 75 different combinations.
But this model is not cheap either. In the regular versions, the prices for the Galaxy Z Flip4 are between 1099.00 and 1279.00 euros. The Bespoke Edition starts at 1199.00 euros. Here, too, you can trade in your old mobile phone to Samsung and receive an additional EUR 150.00 for the appropriate purchase value. You also get one year of Samsung Care+ for free.
The Samsung Galaxy Watch5
Smartwatch fans will also get their money’s worth with Samsung: with the Galaxy Watch5 and the new top model, the Galaxy Watch 5 Pro. Samsung’s BioActive sensor, which provides readings on heart rate, blood oxygen levels and stress levels, is used in the smartwatches. The devices can also measure your blood pressure and create ECGs – but only in countries where these medical functions have been activated.
Furthermore, the contact surface of the sensor on the wrist has been enlarged to ensure more accurate measurement results. The Galaxy Watch 5 Pro has a higher quality finish than the basic model and is therefore better suited for outdoor athletes. The Galaxy Watch5 is available in two versions: 40 and 44 millimeters in diameter. The Galaxy Watch 5 Pro comes with a 45 mm case and a slightly more angular watch ring.
Depending on the equipment, the Galaxy Watch5 costs between 299.00 and 379.00 euros, you can secure the Pro model for a price between 469.00 and 519.00 euros.

The Samsung Galaxy Buds2 Pro
Last but not least, Samsung introduced another generation of the popular Galaxy headphones: the Galaxy Buds2 Pro. They are more compact than their predecessors and should therefore fit better in the ear.
The Bluetooth headphones are equally suitable for athletes and couch potatoes. Because thanks to Auto Switch, the Buds can easily play the sound from Samsung televisions and thus protect the nerves of roommates. However, this feature only works with the latest generation of televisions.
