In “Normal People”, the acclaimed second novel by the now 30-year-old Irish author Sally Rooney, lovers stroll through the dark alleys of Dublin on their way home from a party. The woman is annoyed with one of the other women at the party. She talked too much about Israel, it was somehow “eccentric”.
