Salary doubling! Chelsea want to extend with Mason Mount
Chelsea want to extend the contract with offensive youngster Mason Mount and even at least double the salary of the home grown man.
Chelsea FC is pushing ahead with its personnel planning and in the course of this, Mason Mount’s contract extension is pending. According to information from Goal and SPOX the Blues should be ready to at least double the 22-year-old’s salary.
Mount currently earns around 4.5 million euros a year, making him a low-wage earner in coach Thomas Tuchel’s team. Now the offensive man would like to move up into the spheres of Kai Havertz and Timo Werner, who are among the best-earning players in the squad.
Chelsea: Mount’s current contract runs until 2024
Those in charge are aware of Mount’s importance for the club and the player is not averse to an extension of his current contract, which will run for two and a half years until summer 2024 anyway.
Above all, the interaction with newcomer Romelu Lukaku works very well, as Tuchel recently emphasized: “Football is about connections these days and I think Romelu harmonizes very well with Mason Mount and Mateo Kovacic.”
Priority will initially be given to the contract extensions for Antonio Rüdiger, Andreas Christensen and Trevoh Chalobah. While the working paper of the latter is still valid until 2023, the contracts of Rüdiger and Christensen will expire next summer.
