Saint-Grégoire elects Laëtitia Remoissenet, the first woman mayor, after the death of its former elected official

Saint-Grégoire has a new mayor. For the first time in the history of this chic town located north of Rennes, it is a woman who should be elected. During the municipal election organized on Sunday, the list of Laëtitia Remoissenet obtained more than 78% of the votes in this town anchored in the center-right. The former first deputy of Pierre Breteau, who died suddenly in October, should unsurprisingly be appointed mayor in the next municipal election.

Leader of the opposition in Rennes Métropole, the former mayor MoDem died in a few months from cancer. Pierre Breteau had made his illness public, explaining that he was continuing his missions at town hall. In October, he posted a photo of himself all smiles on his social networks. A few days later, his family announced his death at just 53 years old. Many tributes had been paid to the centrist elected official, all hailing his involvement for his town, known to be one of the richest in the territory.

Since his death, it was his first assistant Laëtitia Remoissenet who took the reins of Saint-Grégoire as a substitute. The one who works in an auditing and financial consulting firm had to put together a new list with all the outgoing elected officials after the death of two councilors and the former mayor. Aged 47, the new mayor joined the municipal council in 2008 upon the election of Pierre Breteau, before becoming first deputy in 2014.
