S-Bahn Munich: Again emergency schedule due to GDL strike – Munich

The union of German locomotive drivers (GDL) has called again for a strike. Freight traffic has been affected since Saturday. From Monday morning, 2 a.m. until Wednesday morning, 2 a.m., passenger traffic is also on strike.

During the first strike last week, only about every fourth long-distance train started; this will also be the case from Monday, as Deutsche Bahn (DB) announced on Friday. The regional railways of the DB as well as the S-Bahn are again affected by the strike, here the DB is aiming for a capacity of 40 percent.

The Munich S-Bahn will again issue an emergency schedule, which will be designed as it was for previous outbreaks. This means that most lines will run at least every hour, but some will probably be served more frequently. This is how the S-Bahn should run during the strike:

  • the S 1 runs every 20 to 40 minutes and only between Leuchtenbergring and Freising (not to the airport).
  • the S 2 runs between Dachau and Markt Schwaben every 20 to 40 minutes, on the other line sections every hour. (Attention: stops in Poing and Heimstetten due to construction work).
  • the S 3 runs between Maisach and Ostbahnhof every 20 to 40 minutes, on the other line sections every hour.
  • the S 4 Runs every hour between Geltendorf and Ostbahnhof and every hour between Buchenau and Grafing. This creates a 20/40 minute cycle between Buchenau and Ostbahnhof.
  • the S 6 runs every hour. Together with the S 4, there is a 20/40 minute cycle between Ostbahnhof and Grafing (the construction schedule for the S-Bahn between Trudering and Grafing Bahnhof is temporarily suspended, the rail replacement buses run as planned).
  • the S 7 runs every hour.
  • the S 8 runs between Pasing and the airport every 20 minutes, in the western outer sections from / to Germering every 20 to 40 minutes and from / to Herrsching every 60 minutes.
  • the S 20 not applicable.

DB uses several channels for passenger information about the changed timetables. All real-time information is available in the Munich Navigator at s-bahn-muenchen.de/app or in the DB route agent as an app at bahn.de/streckenagent retrievable. In addition, passengers can see all S-Bahn trains in the live map s-bahn-muenchen.de/ livemap Find. The error messages are also there twitter.com/streckenagent_M.
