Hutchins attorney says video is harmful

Halyna Hutchins’ widower’s lawyer has expressed outrage at the release of new footage of the Rust set incident.
Police have recently released new video footage of the fatal incident on the set of the film Rust last October. However, the county sheriff, Adan Mendoza, violated constitutional law by publishing it. Matthew Hutchins’ attorney, Brian Panish, claimed in an email that which should be available to the US celebrity portal “TMZ”..
Hutchins is the husband of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins (1979-2021). She was fatally injured on the set of the film “Rust” after a shot was fired from a gun that actor Alec Baldwin (64) had been handling. The new footage includes rescue workers tending to the injured camerawoman, who later succumbed to her injuries.
“Stepped on” Halyna Hutchins’ rights?
The sheriff’s office “trampled on the constitutional rights of the deceased,” the email said, among other things. The publication could therefore cause irreparable harm to the Hutchins widower and young son. Among other things, the lawyer fears that the recordings could be used by other children to psychologically abuse Hutchins’ son.
In the email, Panish called for the police to respect the rights of the deceased, the widower and their son “to dignity, privacy, respect and justice” in the future.
In addition, Mendoza broke his promise to let Matt Hutchins see any material that was to be released. The lawyer is asking the office to remove the video footage. Although the damage already caused cannot be made up for by the publication, it limits a “complimentary responsibility” for further damage.
