Russia – Aeroflot pilots will be drafted – Economy

Russian aviation is apparently facing personnel problems because of the war in Ukraine. The Russian newspaper reported that up to 80 percent of employees could be drafted into the military as part of the announced partial mobilization Kommersant. Within a day of Russian President Vladimir Putin’s order, employees at at least five airlines and more than 10 airports had received their draft notices. The largest Russian airline Aeroflot therefore expects that more than half of its staff could be brought to the army. Aeroflot declined to comment. The background is that Russian pilots were mostly trained in the military departments of flight schools or have completed their military service. This means they can be among the reservists who are now supposed to reinforce the Russian military. At least five companies are in the process of creating lists of employees who should be exempted.
