The defending champions of Luxembourg and France, raise their voices in the face of the hateful and misogynistic comments of which the riders of the Tour de France women are victims.
The women’s Tour de France has been talked about a lot since the start in Paris, in particular because of the falls which are linked to the detriment of the riders, the most spectacular having taken place Thursday 45 kilometers from the finish of the 5th stage. These falls are inevitably the subject of mockery on social networks that can range from a simple joke to the most execrable misogynistic reflection.
It’s not just women who fall
In response to these “haters”, Christine Majerus posted photos of the crashes during this year’s edition of the men’s Tour de France, including defending champion Jonas Vingegaard.
But these derogatory comments do not come only from ordinary Internet users, as evidenced by the scathing response from Audrey Cordon-Ragot to former journalist Pierre Salviac concerning the level of the runners who participate in the competition.
Errors that can be explained by the omnipresent nervousness within the peloton. All eyes are on the riders taking part in this first edition of the Tour de France women after 33 years of absence. According to Séverine Eraud, member of the Stade Rochelais training, they have no right to failure:
