Rubén Abruña presents his film “Holy Shit” in Munich – Munich

It’s called “Pile of Poo” in English, which sounds a little nicer than the German name: The poop is a very popular emoji, it’s sent millions of times – and only very naive people see it as a symbol for chocolate ice cream. Puerto Rican filmmaker Rubén Abruña travels the world with a pile of poo emoji, putting it on car roofs or bicycles: his documentary “Holy Shit” is about how we deal with human feces.

The issue affects everyone, the sewage treatment plants are full, and toxic residues often end up in nature. On his journey through four continents, the filmmaker gets to know engineers and initiatives that produce electricity or fertilizer from excrement. Abruña is currently traveling with his film in Germany and will present it in Munich on December 5th.
