Several changes will come into force from April 1, 2024. They will equally concern motorists, motorcyclists, tenants, beneficiaries of social and family benefits, and even high school students. Here’s everything you need to know about these upcoming changes according to the government website.
From April 1
First of all, the effects of inflation will be reduced for those who receive the Active Solidarity Income (RSA), the Activity Bonus, family allowances, the allowance for disabled adults (AAH) or even the education allowance for disabled children (AEEH). These benefits will increase by 4.6% from April 1, in order to keep up with inflation. The RSA will, for example, go from 607.75 euros to 635.71 euros.
On the same day, the winter break, which began on November 1, 2023, will have ended. On this date, owners will once again be able to evict a tenant in the event of unpaid rent, nuisance or even violations relating to co-ownership regulations. As a reminder, this measure aims to protect people who could find themselves homeless during the winter.
Later in the month
Another important date, this time for high school students. April 3 will mark the deadline for confirming your wishes expressed on the Parcoursup platform. To do this, candidates must complete their file with the elements required by the training courses, for example a CV and a cover letter. Once these wishes are confirmed, admission proposals will gradually be made from May 30.
Finally, several changes will take place on the road in April 2024. The famous green sticker, which was used to attest to car or motorcycle insurance, is no longer compulsory. From now on, law enforcement can directly check insurance using the license plate and the insured vehicle file (FVA). Car or motorcycle insurance remains necessary.
For drivers of motorcycles, scooters or mopeds, the technical inspection obligation will come into force on April 15. Models from before 2017 have until the end of 2024 to do so. Those manufactured between 2017 and 2019 have until the end of 2025 and the most recent must do so no later than the end of 2026. Failure to comply with this provision is punishable by a fine of 135 euros.
