The Simpsons were right again: The US hip-hop band Cypress Hill actually performs with an orchestra.

The Simpsons are said to have predicted the future several times. But now the future of the yellow comic family is adapting: as described in an episode from 1996, the US hip-hop band is playing Cypress Hill (“I Wanna Get High”) will perform a concert with the London Symphony Orchestra (LSO) this summer.

“It’s a dream come true, it’s a collaboration that only The Simpsons could have predicted,” the band was quoted as saying. “We are thrilled to be performing with the London Symphony Orchestra at such a prestigious venue as the Royal Albert Hall.” Lucy Noble from promoter AEG said, referring to the Simpsons’ fictional hometown: “It’s been a long time since these two legendary acts teamed up in Springfield, but we know the original will be worth the wait.” The concert is scheduled to take place on July 10th. LSO conductor Troy Miller arranged some of the band’s songs for his orchestra.

“Probably when they were high”

In the Simpsons episode “Homer on Tour” (Original: Homerpalooza), an employee asks the bands at a festival who booked the LSO for their performance – “possibly when they were high” – and adds: “Cypress Hill, I’m looking at you.” After a brief discussion, the three hip-hoppers admit that they are responsible. “Can you play “Insane in the Brain”?” the trio asks the orchestra musicians dressed in tails and bow ties. Answer: “We usually play classical, but we can give it a try.” They then make music together.

The Simpsons authors are said to have correctly predicted the future several times – among other things, it was seen long before in the US series that Donald Trump would one day become US President.
