With canoes and inflatable boats, climate activists are currently protesting in Rostock-Warnemünde against cruise tourism. The demonstrators are blocking the exit of the cruise ship “Aida Diva”.

In order to draw attention to the environmentally harmful effects of the cruise, climate activists from the group “Smash Cruiseshit” positioned themselves in the port of Rostock-Warnemünde with inflatable boats and canoes in front of the cruise ship “Aida Diva” to prevent it from leaving the port.

A police spokeswoman confirmed that around 20 people were on the water and had unrolled a poster. On one they demand: “Sea rescue in the Mediterranean instead of luxury liners in every sea”. In addition, an activist climbed onto a lantern at the cruise terminal, and some also tried to get onto the ship. The police are on site both on the water and on land.

The activists criticize that cruises are harmful to the climate. Her criticism: on the one hand, people take luxury vacations on board, on the other hand, people suffer from the effects of the climate crisis. They are calling for all cruises to be stopped immediately. The 252 meter long cruise ship is currently unable to leave the port. The departure towards Scandinavia was scheduled for 6 p.m.
