Injured visitors, folders on which stones and bottles hail, hardly any shade for more than 40,000 people: A lot goes wrong at the German premiere of the hip-hop festival “Rolling Loud”.
The “Rolling Loud” hip-hop festival at the exhibition center almost ended on Saturday for security reasons. The police, fire brigade and KVR meanwhile assessed the situation among the 40,000 visitors not only as aggressive, but also as dangerous. The district administration department, as the responsible security authority, explains to questions from the SZ: “The security authorities have thought intensively about canceling the event.” However, this would probably have “led to even more aggression and crowding”. That’s why the authorities decided to let “Rolling Loud”, which started on Friday, continue as planned until Sunday. “That was the safer way,” said KVR boss Hanna Sammüller-Gradl. The festival, which originated in the USA, has been taking place at various locations around the world for years, and last weekend it was in Germany for the first time.
