Roger Federer has ended his tennis career, but maybe he will soon be making music more often? At the Coldplay concert, the Swiss was allowed to support the band on a song.

Usually is Roger Federer an artist with a bat in his hand. The former tennis pro has won 20 Grand Slam titles and is considered by many to be the greatest tennis player of all time. Federer ended his active career as an athlete last year, but recently he appeared on the big stage in a different capacity.

None other than the band Coldplay put “FedEx” in the limelight. There the Swiss exchanged racket for a rattle and supported the group around singer Chris Martin with the song “Don’t Panic”. Federer was even allowed to hire himself out as vocal support at the Coldplay concert in Zurich. His performance can be seen on the band’s Instagram channel. And Federer himself also posted a picture on Instagram of how he forms a tight-knit circle with the band.

“Adventure of a Lifetime”, he wrote – the title of a Coldplay song, which was probably program for Federer in this case: The musical performance in front of the concert audience in Zurich’s Letzigrund Stadium was also a great adventure for the former tennis ace .

Coldplay singer Chris Martin called Federer on stage as the “original band member”: “In 1996 we had five members. The fifth member played rattles.” But after three months, the ominous member decided to devote himself to the sport: “Then he said: ‘Fuck it. I’ll be the greatest tennis player of all time.'” Federer was then allowed to set the rhythm for the next song.

Everyone obviously enjoyed the little surprise performance: Federer, the band and the audience. Coldplay commented on Federer’s post afterwards: “Flawless performance on the rattle! Is there anything you can’t do?” The former tennis star apparently likes to spend his free time after his career at concerts. The day before he had already attended the Elton John show in Zurich.
