Review: Martin Stadtfeld in Polling – Bavaria

“Classical” concerts of the 19th century were much closer to pop than today. Musicians “covered” well-known titles, mixed foreign and their own, and improvised in between. A program like the one Martin Stadtfeld played in the library hall of the Polling monastery follows on from this: the framework is provided by well-known Beethoven with the capriccio at the beginning known as “Rage over the Lost Penny” and the 23rd piano sonata, the “Appassionata”. Ending; Before the break, the first eight études from Chopin’s Opus 10 provide the virtuosic climax.
