Revamped blazer, floral sushi, fun marshmallow… Our five stylish news of the week

60 years of an iconic brand

Who would have the idea of tailoring a suit to Renoma ? For the 60th anniversary of the house, the fashion design school Esmod did not hesitate for long. After the Carte Blanche Maurice Renoma within the walls of the school, its students revisited the Renoma collections through the prism of contemporaneity. The exercise: appropriate the legendary blazer, an iconic piece of the house, to reinterpret it according to their own language. Seven of them were chosen by Maurice Renoma to be exhibited in the store until the end of the year.

For those who don’t remember, Renoma opened its first store on October 23, 1963 under the name White House Renoma. America was then fashionable and John Kennedy was ultra popular. His assassination a month later, on November 22, forced the brothers Maurice and Michel to rename their store. Renoma would, despite everything, match the pop culture of that era, through its colors, its shapes, its patchworks full of audacity and liveliness… The same that we find in the pieces of the young talents exhibited.

From November 23 to December 23, Renoma, 129 bis, rue de la Pompe, Paris 16e www.60yearsrenoma.com.

Artist Pierre Brault puts his aesthetic into sushi

After chef Mory Sacko last year, after a box on the theme of the “Stranger Things” series, Sushi Shop is teaming up with Pierre Braulta visual artist and designer very invested in thinking about the environment and biodiversity.

The young man is best known for his volume work around color, light and transparency and for his large-scale installations in urban space. But what interests us here is his collaboration with the heads of Sushi Shop to whom he inspired three new maki recipes. The Salmon Citrus Tulip (3.70 euros per piece), a salmon tartare enhanced with lemon mayonnaise with salmon roe on top. The Tuna Blossom Roll (7 euros for six pieces), tuna with celery and green apple remoulade.

The three creations by designer Pierre Brault for Sushi Shop: the Tuna Blossom roll (left), the Spring Mango Flower (center), the Salmon Citrus Tulip (right) – SUSHI SHOP

And especially the Spring mango flower (7 euros for six pieces), our favorite: a maki that combines sea bream and coriander, avocado and mango, with a pansy flower on top. The box itself is superb with its tangy colors and trompe-l’oeil flowers which invite you to taste it.

Since November 16 in Sushi Shop stores. www.sushishop.fr

Six prices for an original coffee from Reunion Island

THE World Coffee Challenge which was held last week in Madrid crowned the best “originally” roasted coffees. Excellent coffees roasted not in Europe as is the case with 99.9% of the coffees we consume (even though coffee trees do not grow there), but directly where they are produced. And this little game organized for the second year by the French start-upalternative.cafeit is a French café from Reunion Island which distinguished itself by winning six awards, including the 2023 “Café des femmes” prize for its producer Martine Sliti and her exceptional coffee called Sharp Bourbon.

The idea of the competition is to promote so-called “original” roasting, which is economically and culturally important, because the small “estates” (as they say for wine) which do it have the merit of controlling the entire chain, “from plant to cup”. Enough to break with the idea that coffee must necessarily be roasted in factories in Switzerland or Italy with blends purchased at low prices while we cannot imagine that a Bordeaux or a Burgundy can be vinified and put into production. bottle in Zurich or Milan.
