Retreat in Banz Monastery: CSU for reducing bureaucracy and social year – Bavaria

The CSU state parliamentary group would like to set up a study commission to reduce bureaucracy in the Free State. “Bureaucracy hinders economic growth and is a danger to our prosperity,” said parliamentary group leader Klaus Holetschek on Friday South German newspaper. The committee made up of MPs and external experts is intended to help “to get a cross-party and comprehensive overview of where we need to act and change laws”. Holetschek sees a need for action in housing construction, for example, which he would like to accelerate. In addition, entrepreneurs would have to be relieved of their documentation obligations in order to have more time for their core tasks. Holetschek also wants to reduce bureaucracy in the health sector, for example in pharmacies and in the care sector.

Bureaucracy will be a central topic at the winter retreat of the CSU MPs, who will meet for four days in Banz Monastery next week. On the occasion of the meeting, the parliamentary group also specified its demands for a mandatory year of company in a key points paper. Accordingly, men and women should serve at least six to seven months at a time in the Bundeswehr, in clubs or social institutions. The service should also be open to older people, and months of service should be recognized and rewarded, for example with free bus and train tickets, pension points, easier access to study programs or priority for low-interest KfW loans.

“People need to ask more about what they can contribute to the success of our community, and not where and how they can benefit the most and more than others. In this respect, it is also reasonable to dedicate a few months of your life to the state,” it says in the paper. CSU boss Markus Söder recently spoke out in favor of a return to compulsory military service for at least seven months. As an alternative, one could also think of a general service obligation, but this would be difficult to enforce constitutionally, he argued in the Picture on Sunday.

At its winter meeting in the European election year, the CSU parliamentary group is primarily focusing on European and security policy. Carsten Breuer, Inspector General of the Bundeswehr, will be a guest on Monday. On Thursday, parliamentary group leader Klaus Holetschek, Prime Minister Markus Söder and European election top candidate Manfred Weber will receive Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama. Söder’s keynote speech on Wednesday is likely to attract the most attention.
