Restrictive measures put in place to deal with air pollution

Following an episode of fine particle pollution, the Rhône prefecture took restrictive measures in the Lyon region. From Friday, 5 am, differentiated traffic is introduced on the perimeter of the ZFE of the metropolis of Lyon, prohibiting vehicles classified as “Crit’Air 4” from driving.

Sytral Mobilités, which manages public transport in the metropolis, has therefore announced that its “Tick’air” device will be activated on Friday, “allowing you to travel all day” on the entire network for 3 euros.

Lowering of speed throughout the department

In addition to differentiated traffic, “a temporary lowering of the speed of 20 km / h” on all roads in the department where “the authorized speed limit is normally greater than or equal to 90 km / h” has been put in place. This measure also concerns the Lake Geneva basin and the Arve valley, specified the prefectures of Ain and Haute-Savoie.

This episode of winter pollution with fine particles is linked to the cooling of temperatures, leading to an increase in heating emissions, in particular from wood, explained the organization Atmo. The weak wind amplified the phenomenon.
