Resignation and suspicions of sexist attacks at the Glénans sailing school

It is THE reference in the industry. Presented as “the first sailing school in Europe”, the Glénans sailing school welcomes more than 15,000 trainees and instructors each year according to figures published on its website. Created in 1947 in Finistère by a couple of resistance fighters, the association is today shaken by revelations of sexist attacks. According to the magazine Sails and Sailboats, the general delegate of the association was recently suspended. As for the president of the structure, he recently resigned “for personal reasons”, specifies the specialized magazine.

The turmoil experienced by the sailing school would have its origins in two reports transmitted to the “stop violence” cell set up by the association. This body is responsible for carrying out an internal investigation in the event of suspicion of sexual or sexist assault. According to Sails and Sailboats, two women allegedly testified to facts described as sexist to the cell. The French Sailing Federation has been alerted but no complaint has yet been filed.
