Schalke 04 will downsize the coaching team. Matthias Kreutzer and Beniamino Molinari are considered candidates for the end.
With his assumption of office, Thomas Reis has also brought a new dynamic to the coaching staff. As a result, two assistant coaches could soon have to leave the professional team.
After there was a clear requirement in the summer that the new Schalke coach was not allowed to bring his own assistants and had to come to terms with the existing team, it was softened with regard to Thomas Reis’ commitment. The new head coach was allowed to sign together with his confidante Markus Gellhaus.

Kreutzer, whom Reis initially praised as someone with “a good eye”, was installed by Huub Stevens as a video analyst at S04 in March 2019. Since then he has acted as an assistant coach. Both in the previous year and as interim coach before the new head coach took over, he was already on the sidelines as boss.
The fans see him as a knowledgeable and likeable Schalke player. However, he seems to have to leave the professional area in the near future.
Molinari, on the other hand, has never been noticed publicly. He only joined the club in the summer. Internally, he is considered a kind of “integration minister”, who is said to have failed. That he falls victim to the clean-up work is by no means surprising.
