Reinforced security, closed airspaces… the region on alert after Iran’s attack on Israel

Iran announced it had launched a “drone and missile” attack against Israel.
Therefore, several countries in the region have taken security measures and closed their airspace.
Just before the announcement, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu assured that his country was “ready to face any scenario”.

The attack has been announced and all countries around Israel are now on alert. On Saturday April 13, Iran launched a drone attack against Israel, almost two weeks after a strike attributed to Israel against the Iranian consulate in Damascus and which raised fears of an escalation of tensions in the Middle East. In response to this attack, all countries in the region took security measures.

Maximum alert state

As Israeli state television reported that drones and missiles had been launched by Iran, the Israeli military went on high alert. Israeli army spokesman Daniel Hagari said the army was monitoring “the threat in airspace”. “We are working closely with the United States and our partners in the region to counter and intercept launches.”added Rear Admiral Hagari.

Just before the attack was announced, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu assured that his country had prepared to “the possibility of a direct attack by Iran” and was “ready to face any scenario, both in terms of defense and attack.”

Israel and neighboring countries have also announced that they have closed their airspace. National and international flights have been suspended in Israeli airspace since 9:30 p.m. GMT (11:30 p.m. in Paris). Iraq, bordering Iran, also made this decision. Likewise in Lebanon and Jordan, which justified this temporary measure in the face of “at the rise of dangers” in the Middle-East.

For its part, Syria has put its air defense systems on alert around Damascus and military bases. In Egypt, air defenses are on high alert.
