Supporters of the extremist “Reichsbürger” movement from different parts of Germany met on Saturday in a Coburg Waldorf school. Now it seems clear who let them in.
In the case of an illegal meeting of so-called Reich citizens in the Coburg Waldorf School, the school drew personal consequences. A caretaker is said to have secretly let the 55 people into a hall of the school last Saturday, as the school management and board announced on Wednesday. He unlocked with his master key, he had since been fired.
A police spokesman said they had the same level of knowledge as the school. The caretaker was not initially questioned in detail, so it was not possible to say whether the man himself belonged to the “Reichsbürger” scene. The investigations continued. There are allegations of trespassing and possible violations of the Infection Protection Act.
The police had previously determined that “Reich citizens” wanted to meet in the Coburg area on Saturday. In the evening, the school finally emerged as a meeting place. There were no signs of a break-in, so the investigators quickly assumed that someone must have unlocked the door. According to the school administration, they knew nothing about the meeting.
In the past few days, intensive investigations have been carried out into who opened the doors for the meeting, the school officials said: “There is no indication that other caretakers, other employees, teachers, parents or students took part in the illegal Reich Citizens’ Meeting”. participated or supported it in any way. The institution once again affirmed: “The contrast between abstruse, anti-constitutional conspiracy theories, as represented by the citizens of the Reich, and the goals and ideals of the Coburg Waldorf School could not be greater.”
According to the police, the participants had traveled from all over Germany. The “Reichsbürger” scene is considered to be heterogeneous. They agree that relatives reject the existence of the Federal Republic of Germany and its legal system.
