Even before the kick-off, SpVgg Unterhaching wasn’t really going well on Friday evening. When the players came onto the pitch, a message from Karim Adeyemi ran on the video screen. The 19-year-old played in Unterhaching until 2018, moved to Salzburg and after many goals even received an invitation from national coach Hansi Flick. The striker should give his former team a few words of encouragement – not a bad idea after three league games without a win. Only: the sound didn’t work. Haching’s players and 1000 spectators in the sold out sports park heard nothing.
Whether the Munich suburbs would have won with smooth external motivation is speculation. It would certainly not have hurt, because Haching lost after a mixed performance 0: 2 against FV Illertissen and slipped further into the middle of the table of the Regionalliga Bayern. “During the warm-up I noticed how mentally the players were at the end of the whole week in England,” said coach Sandro Wagner after the game.
The initial phase also belonged to the guests. In Unterhachinger Tor, Hannes Heilmair had two opportunities to distinguish himself. The 17-year-old made his regional league debut – coach Wagner put the ailing Alex Weidinger on the bench, who had badly messed up at 4-5 in Schalding during the week. However, Heilmair did not prevent the deficit. In the 33rd minute, Illertissens Yannick Glessing refueled and withdrew decisively.
Unterhaching then worked out several options; Julien Richter had the best, whose long-range shot hit the post (57th). Illertissen switched to counterattacking and came through again and again, the absence of the yellow-banned defender Markus Schwabl made itself felt. In stoppage time, the Hachinger threw everything forward – and were punished. Illertissen played a counterattack cleanly to the end, Philipp Boyer scored the 2-0. After a subsequent pack formation, Hachings Felix Göttlicher had to leave the field with yellow and red. “I am now looking forward to a completely normal week of training,” said Wagner after the used Hachinger evening.
