There are always calls back. Lidl UK has just made a particularly embarrassing mistake. Ironically, a children’s snack led to a porn site.

Spoiled ingredients, glass splinters that got into meals or dangerous components: Recalls are an important tool for manufacturers and retail chains to protect customers from faulty or health-endangering products after errors. For the A particularly embarrassing case arose for the Lidl branch in Great Britain: a children’s product, of all things, advertised porn.

“Lidl Great Britain is withdrawing the following products,” says a company statement, which was also shared by British consumer advocates “Which” on Twitter. “We have been made aware that a link provided by the manufacturer on the back is compromised and should not be consumed by children.”

Porn instead of Paw Patrol

Specifically, it is about a range of children’s snacks that have been branded with the “Paw Patrol” series, which has been extremely successful with children. Two classic and two filled types of biscuits with different flavors attracted the attention of little fans and their parents with colorful pictures of Chase, Zuma and Skye. On the back there was an advertising link that was supposed to lead to children’s clothing, but actually led to a Chinese porn site.

How exactly the error came about is not known. However, Lidl and the manufacturer have a clear recommendation for handling the affected products. “We recommend our customers not to call up the URL,” explains the supermarket chain in its statement. “Bring the product back to your nearest store and we will give you a full refund.”

However, anyone who wants to visit the address of the link, which is widespread in social media, for research purposes, will be disappointed. The website, which was initially accessible via mobile devices, is now no longer accessible at all.
