For more German and mathematics in Bavaria’s primary schools, another subject has to take a back seat. The dispute over where cuts will be made has been simmering for weeks. Education Minister Anna Stolz wants to present her concept shortly.

After weeks of speculation at Bavarian primary schools, Education Minister Anna Stolz (Free Voters) is apparently planning to present her concept for more German and math lessons at Bavarian primary schools at the end of next week. That’s what they say. From her house it is officially said “still in February”. The aim is to draw conclusions from the recent Pisa defeat, in which German students performed very poorly in mathematics, natural sciences and reading.
