RB Leipzig is apparently losing a long-standing pillar

A small era is apparently coming to an end at RB Leipzig: Emil Forsberg will be leaving the club after nine years, according to media reports.

The long-standing pillar of the Leipzig offensive will, like that Picture reports, will find a new home within the corporate universe: A winter transfer to sister club New York Red Bulls in the US MLS should be fixed. We are talking about a “long-term contract” and possibly also a follow-up job after an active career. (NEWS: All current information about the Bundesliga)

The Swedish international moved from the then Swedish champions Malmö FF to Leipzig in the 2nd Bundesliga in January 2015 and was a guarantee of promotion to the top German club.

Forsberg has played 318 competitive games for RB so far, scored 69 goals and prepared 67, and was a reliable constant for his team for many years – only Yussuf Poulsen is ahead of him in the list of record players (375).

Even if Forsberg flirted with a move from time to time, he ultimately always decided to remain connected to his long-time adopted home.

The starting eleven appearances have recently become rarer due to the growing squad competition, but Forsberg still performed until the end when coach Marco Rose relied on him.

The fact that the club institution is now leaving is rather surprising: Forsberg still has a contract until 2025, and there were also talks about an extension with an option until 2027 recently. (DATA: The results of the Bundesliga)

In the meantime, an exciting alternative has obviously opened up for Forsberg in the Red Bull cosmos: In the cosmopolitan city, Forsberg has a new life experience and a new sporting challenge waiting for him.

In US coach Troy Lesesne’s young team – eliminated in the first round of the playoffs last season – Forsberg is likely to be a leading player.
