Rapper Kaaris facing justice for domestic violence

After thirteen years of living together, Kaaris and Linda P. separated in August 2020. Since then, nothing has gone well between the ex-spouses, parents of a 7-year-old daughter. To the point that justice is forced to get involved in their stormy breakup. The 42-year-old rapper – real name Gnakouri Okou – is being tried this Friday morning by the Evry-Courcouronnes criminal court (Essonne) for repeat violence against a spouse, with an ITT of more than eight days. Her ex-partner is appearing for home invasion and minor damage.

On July 7, 2022, the ex-partner of the rapper from Sevran (Seine-Saint-Denis) filed a complaint and denounced to the police the violence he allegedly inflicted on her on January 19, 2021. That day, this elderly woman 40-year-old goes to the new home of her daughter’s father in Linas, in Essonne. She wishes, she told the police, to ask the singer for explanations as to his “evasive behavior”, sudden and without explanation, which would have caused “deep trauma” in their child. But the confrontation turns sour. According to her, Kaaris came out of the house, pushed her and forced her to go into his garage. He then allegedly kicked and punched her several times while tearing out her nails.

“Kaaris has never been violent towards a woman”

The complainant assured in her complaint that she needed “crutches and a support boot for two weeks” after this attack. At the time of the events, Linda P. had simply filed a complaint against her ex. She did not want to file a complaint, “for fear for her safety”. The forty-year-old was certain that the rap star “would try to silence her so that her career would not be tainted,” she explained to investigators. The Evry public prosecutor’s office then opened a preliminary investigation.

For his part, Kaaris, who contests these accusations, filed a complaint against his ex-partner for slanderous denunciation. He explained to the police that she had entered his home without being invited, by climbing a wall. According to him, the complainant was injured when she fell. Jealous, she would have wanted to enter the house to attack the artist’s new companion, who was a few months pregnant. He then “suggested that we go and talk in the garage”. Linda P. then allegedly broke the rearview mirror of the Fiat 500 belonging to Kaaris’ new partner and hit her ex-partner.

Linda P. and Kaaris were both placed in police custody in November 2022 at the Sainte-Geneviève-des-Bois police station, before being released without judicial supervision.

“Our client is perfectly calm and will be present to reestablish the truth,” they explain to 20 minutes the rapper’s lawyers, Messrs Yassine Maharsi and Yassine Yakouti. Kaaris, they continue, “has never been violent towards a woman and considers that the cause of violence against women is far too important to be exploited in this way for financial purposes. This is an exploitation of justice. »

Complaint for “family abandonment”

Since then, Linda P. has opened a new legal front by filing a complaint, on June 13, with the public prosecutor of Beauvais (Oise) for “family abandonment”, as revealed The Parisian. She believes that the rapper is not paying the full amount of alimony he is supposed to pay her to provide for their daughter. A decision of a family affairs judge, dated November 8, 2022, which he did not appeal, requires him to pay him 2,500 euros per month. Denouncing once again “an instrumentalization of justice and the media” by Linda P., Kaaris’ lawyers announced their intention to file a new complaint for slanderous denunciation.
