A victory for the former American president in the November presidential election would leave Europe “alone against Putin”, Raphaël Glucksmann warned on Wednesday.
“2024 is a pivotal year,” declared the candidate during an electoral meeting in Nancy. “If Trump is elected, we risk ending the year alone in the face of war, alone in the face of Putin, alone in the face of climate peril.”
The EU’s choice is “to be or not to be”
According to the 44-year-old essayist, faced with this risk, Europeans must answer a “dizzying question”: “Are we ready for this?” » However, in this “situation of immense danger”, industries, defense and institutions “are not ready for this”, he replied.
“The question that is asked is ‘to be or not to be’,” said Raphaël Glucksmann. The choice is between “becoming a power together or fading away, disappearing”.
