On the night of April 4, 2023, a ten-year-old girl died violently in the St. Josef children’s home in Wunsiedel. Ten months later, at the beginning of February, the trial began against a 26-year-old man from Upper Franconia who had been in contact with this home at various times in his life. He lived there as a child, then again briefly as a 17-year-old. And when he later worked as a garbage collector for an Upper Franconian municipal company, the children’s home was on his route and he emptied the garbage cans there.
