She is one of the most successful women in the rap and hip-hop business: Missy Elliott has now been honored with a star on the “Walk of Fame” – and was visibly touched at the ceremony.

The American rap icon Missy Elliott (50) unveiled a star plaque with her name on Hollywood’s “Walk of Fame”.

Visibly moved, the musician spoke of her long path to fame. She wanted to thank God, because only with his support did she master problems such as depression and anxiety, said the rapper in front of fans and reporters on Monday (local time).

Her colleagues Ciara (36, “I Bet”) and Lizzo (33, “Truth Hurts”) attended the ceremony in the heart of Hollywood as guest speakers. For them, Missy Elliott is “the brightest star” in the world, said Lizzo. “You don’t even know what you’ve done for so many black girls.” Lizzo praised the «Queen of Hip Hop» as an important pioneer.

Missy Elliott is one of the most successful women in the male-dominated rap and hip-hop business. Her debut album “Supa Dupa Fly” came out in 1997, songs like “Get Ur Freak On”, “Work It”, “The Rain” and “All N My Grill” were big hits. She has also made a name for herself as a producer and label boss and wrote songs for stars such as Christina Aguilera, Destiny’s Child, Pink, Janet Jackson, Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston.
