Johannes Lochner remains the measure of all things in the two-man bobsleigh this season. With the German triple success in Lillehammer, the five-time world champion achieved two records.
Johannes Lochner continues to dominate the two-man bobsleigh competition in the World Cup. In the fifth competition of the season, the Berchtesgadener, who started for Stuttgart, secured himself with his pusher Georg Fleischhauer (SC Potsdam). Lillehammer’s fourth victory this season in the small sled.
On the 1994 Olympic track, the duo relegated Francesco Friedrich (BSC Sachsen Oberbärenburg) and pusher Alexander Schüller from SV Halle to second place in a total time of 1:40.63 minutes (+0.38 seconds). Adam Ammour and Benedikt Hertel from BRC Thuringia came third.
With a track record in the first run of 50.34 seconds, five-time world champion Lochner laid the foundation for victory. The former subscription champion Friedrich countered with the best time to date in the second run of 50.39 seconds, pushing past the German champion Ammour, who was still four hundredths ahead of Oberbärenburger after the first run. It wasn’t enough for a win, as Lochner ended up beating the track record he had just set by a further five hundredths to 50.29 seconds.
