To mark Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee, the Royal House is releasing a cookbook featuring recipes from all corners of the Commonwealth.

For the 70th anniversary of the throne of Queen Elizabeth II (96), the British royal family is publishing a cookbook. The Platinum Jubilee Cookbook includes recipes from across the Commonwealth.

Clarence House, the official residence of the heir to the throne, Prince Charles (73) and his wife Camilla (74), provides the cookbook on his Instagram page. Charles and Camilla co-wrote a foreword for the book.

“Some of the recipes in this wonderful collection from our network of diplomatic missions are authentically local, while others are proudly British,” read the announcement on Instagram. “And others represent a clash of British and local influences, often to spectacular effect.”

The British embassy staff in the Commonwealth countries collected the recipes. They got to know the respective country better through the specialties, according to Instagram. As an appetizer for the book, Clarence House showed via Instagram the recipe for a sausage roll from Gaborone, the capital of the African Commonwealth state of Botswana.

Culinary will be a big part of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations, according to the announcement. The culmination of the ceremonies will be a four-day celebration from June 2-5.
