Radical changes to the British royals’ Christmas party: For the first time, Camilla’s family is invited to Christmas dinner at Sandringham.

The British royals’ Christmas will be a little different this year than in recent years: according to royal expert Chris Ship writes in an article for “ITV”, this year for the first time the children and grandchildren of Queen Camilla (76) will be present at the traditional Christmas gathering of the royal family in Sandringham. In the report, Ship quotes an insider who says: “The Queen has invited her children and grandchildren this year, which is different from previous years.”

Every Christmas, members of the royal family around King Charles III visit. (75) the church of St. Mary Magdalene on the estate in Norfolk and then return to Sandringham House for a festive lunch together. Camilla’s children Tom Parker-Bowles (48) and Laura Lopes (45) and their families are expected to take part in the lunch for the first time this year.

From the dining room to the large ballroom

This could also have an impact on the location of the meal. “The fact that the Queen’s family will be there means extra space will be needed,” said an insider. In the last years under Queen Elizabeth II (1926 – 2022), the communal meal took place in the dining room; now the royals and their guests could take a seat in the larger ballroom. This year, Charles and Camilla’s wish is that “everyone dines together.”

The fact that Camilla’s family is there is a “radical change” to the guest list. Despite the larger group, Ship does not assume in his article that Prince Harry (39) and Duchess Meghan (42) will attend Christmas dinner with their children Archie (4) and Lilibet (2).
