A bit of Hollywood flair at Buckingham Palace: Queen Camilla met some successful actors at a celebration.
Finalists, jurors and prominent supporters attended the reception on Wednesday. Photos show the queen chatting animatedly with the stars. She should have a lot to talk about with Hugh Bonneville – after all, the Royal Family is considered a fan of the aristocratic cult series “Downton Abbey”, in which Bonneville played the Earl of Grantham. Camilla also chatted that evening with comedian Sir Lenny Henry (65) and British “Got Talent” star Skylar Blu.
Camilla advocated for the creative competition to continue
The “500 Words” writing competition, which was launched in 2011, was paused during the Corona pandemic and is now finally being continued. As The Sun reported, children ages five to eleven submitted 44,000 entries, which are judged in two age categories. One of the jurors is Charlie Higson (65), author of the “Young Bond” series of novels. He said the Queen was crucial to the event’s return. “She’s really been a big supporter of this cause, she’s very passionate about promoting literacy, and it was really thanks to her that the competition came back.”
While the Queen has already announced the winners, the final will not be broadcast on BBC1’s The One Show until Thursday, March 7, to mark World Book Day. On the royal couple’s Instagram page a video gives impressions of the afternoon. It says: “Congratulations to all finalists and winners.” The creative writing competition encourages children to “write a fictional story – with 500 words or less.”
Charles and Kate continue to recover
Camilla is particularly busy at the moment as she represents her husband. King Charles III is undergoing treatment for cancer that was discovered during his prostate surgery. Princess Kate (42) is also still recovering from an abdominal operation carried out in January.
