The South Korean electronics company Samsung has presented its quarterly figures – and they are impressive. The company posted its highest quarterly profit in years.
Samsung Electronics posted its highest quarterly profit in three years.
As the South Korean electronics company announced, operating profit rose by 28 percent to 15.8 trillion won (equivalent to approx. 8.6 billion euros) in the period from July to September. The main reason for this is the strong business with currently coveted chips, the profit of which rose by 82 percent to the equivalent of almost 7.5 billion euros.
Samsung Electronics is benefiting significantly from the increased prices for semiconductors on the world market and the currently comparatively weak South Korean won. Economists assume, however, that the prices for semiconductors will soon fall again in view of the increased supply and gradually flattening demand, which slightly reduces the forecasts for Samsung’s fourth fiscal quarter.
