This Monday, Vladimir Putin’s candidacy for the next presidential election was validated by the Russian authorities. This is no surprise to anyone, as there was no suspense, nor even a truly declared opponent. With the exception of one: Boris Nadejdine is still trying to validate his candidacy, which has aroused some unexpected enthusiasm in recent weeks.
At 71, Vladimir Putin, re-elected in 2018, is seeking a fifth term in the election which will take place from March 15 to 17. The Russian army claimed this Monday to have taken control of a Ukrainian hamlet in the Kharkiv region (north-east). The town of Tabaivka “has been liberated”, the Russian Defense Minister hastened to declare on Telegram. It is a hamlet located about thirty kilometers from the town of Kupiansk, an area in which Russian forces have been on the offensive since the summer.
This was without counting on the Ukrainian army which had heard of this information circulating on the networks. Even before the official announcement of this capture, the Ukrainian army denied it. “This is not true,” ground forces spokesman Volodymyr Fitio told Ukrainian television. And added: “At present, the fighting is still ongoing.”

This Monday, the Ukrainian army, which is trying to gain ground on the left bank of the Dnieper River in the Kherson region while the entire front has been largely frozen since the end of 2022, affirmed that its troops remained determined against the soldiers Russians. And that they were about to “expand” their bridgehead on this bank of the river.
