Ralph Siegel is familiar with peace songs. The composer won the Grand Prix in 1982 with the song “A little peace”. “Never Again War” has been on the market since Wednesday.

Music producer Ralph Siegel (76) has released a new peace song in view of the war in Ukraine. The song entitled “Never Again War” was released on Wednesday. The production came about spontaneously, Siegel tells the German Press Agency.

He actually wrote the song for his musical “Zeppelin”, but then didn’t use it. In this respect he already had the song in the drawer. Last weekend he sat down with his “Zeppelin” team. “And we did nothing but talk about this terrible war in Russia.”

Recorded in one night

They recorded the song in just one night. Performers are Sebastian Hämer and Tim Wilhelm. “They made a great version, with a lot of heart and a lot of soul.”

“Of course the world plays the old songs, by John Lennon for example,” says Siegel and is pleased that his most famous song “A Little Peace” is also playing on the radio stations. He was very touched that the song was played during the preliminary round of the Eurovision Song Contest (ESC) on Friday evening. “When the whole audience sang the song, that was a very moving moment.” Composer Siegel won the Grand Prix in 1982 with the anti-war song, sung by Nicole, who was only 17 at the time. On Friday, however, pop singer Gitte Haenning was on stage instead of Nicole.

The situation between Russia and Ukraine is terrible and the nuclear situation is even more frightening. “Troubleshooting the world like this – no Ukrainian deserves that, no Russian, no European, no one in the world,” said Siegel. “It’s just madness.”
