Protests against truck tolls: blockades at Danish border crossings – politics

In Denmark, truck drivers have blocked border crossings to Germany in protest against the introduction of a truck toll. On Sunday evening the drivers lined up their vehicles at the crossings in Pattburg and Kruså, various media reported. From 2025, according to the information, a kilometer-based motorway toll will be introduced for trucks. The transport companies are therefore demanding that the toll be apportioned to the price of diesel.

The police confirmed according to Danish newspaper Berlingske Tidende the actions. Richard Borring of South and South Jutland Police said there were blockades at the motorway exits on the border with Germany.

There were also protests in other parts of the country. The Copenhagen police wrote on Twitter, she was present because of blockades near the airport, among other things. Trucks are also reportedly blocking roads at ferry docks in the port city of Helsingør in the north-east of the country. Helsingør is one of Denmark’s most important ports and is located directly at the narrowest part of the Øresund – the strait between Denmark and Sweden.
