Protests against Netrebko’s performance in Wiesbaden – culture

Of course, the strongest impression of this memorable evening was made by the soprano Anna Netrebko as the slave “Abigaille” in Giuseppe Verdi’s “Nabucco”. That opera with the famous prisoner’s chorus, which conjured up the freedom of the Hebrews against the Babylonians, with which the Italians later identified themselves in their fight for freedom against immediately and now apparently also the demonstrating Ukrainians in front of the Wiesbaden State Theater.
