According to WDR information, it is 29-year-old Tarek S., a convicted Islamist from Duisburg. He was born in Bielefeld and is a German citizen. He is said to come from the jihadist scene in Herford.
Tarek S. is said to have specifically searched online for pro-Israel events and jihadist content. The authorities are said to have feared that he was responsible for the attack Truck could use.
