Prison closed for having committed carnage in a pigsty

They had come to steal pigs from a farm in Chantonnay (Vendée). But the expedition led in the middle of the night by a father and his son, three weeks ago, turned into a massacre.

On Wednesday, these two men aged 23 and 48 were sentenced in La Roche-sur-Yon to eight months in prison for burglary and acts of cruelty, reports the newspaper West France. Equipped with an ax and a sledgehammer, they stole, killed and injured several pigs that evening, ultimately causing the death of 17 animals on the farm.

Thanks to the farmer’s video surveillance camera, investigators managed to trace the two men, who denied the facts despite meat found in their freezer and a car with a back seat stained with blood. For this “carnage committed by cruel people”, in the words of the prosecution, the defendants also received a prohibition to detain an animal for five years, specifies the daily.
