Printers, scanners, copiers: These devices combine the most important functions

The printing, scanning and copying of documents plays an important role in many professions, but also in private households: whether invoices or faxes, tax receipts or handouts – paper is still indispensable in everyday (office) life. Even when it comes to digitizing important documents, a multifunction printer is still the best choice. Although there are now various apps that enable the scanning, faxing and copying of receipts in good quality, they fail at the latest when printing. And since we can’t (yet) do without paper completely, a corresponding device is definitely useful if you set up a home office. In Corona times more than ever. 1.HP OfficeJet Pro 8022

This multifunction printer combines four devices in one: printer, scanner, copier and fax machine. It scores particularly well with its high printing speed and good print quality. In addition, the HP OfficeJet Pro 8022 uses very little ink – according to the manufacturer, this saves you 70 percent of the cost of new printer cartridges. The device gets negative points for the missing card reader and the non-existent Bluetooth function. You can operate the multifunction printer with your mobile phone via the WLAN and still print and scan via smartphone.

2. Epson Workforce Pro WF-4720DWF

Its trump card is also its shortcoming: the inkjet multifunction device can print photos in the highest image quality – but that has its (expensive) price: photo printing is anything but affordable. On the other hand, the water- and smudge-proof images and texts are within the normal range, which is mainly due to the individual cartridges, so that only the used colors have to be replaced and not the whole set. The device performs even better in terms of printing and scanning speed. And mobile printing and sending of documents via a free app is also possible thanks to NFC², Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi Direct are easily accessible from anywhere.

3. Canon Maxif MB2750

A solid color inkjet printer that can also be used for scanning and copying, printing and faxing. One of its biggest advantages is the good scan and print quality, and up to 500 sheets of paper can be stored in the storage compartments. According to the manufacturer, the DRHD ink is marker and abrasion resistant, and printing and scanning via smartphone is not only possible via WiFi, but also via cloud services. The disadvantages of the Canon Maxif MB2750 include the slow scanning speed and the fact that scanning is not possible when the ink is empty.

4. Brother MFC-J5730DW

In contrast to the other devices, this printer is a real heavyweight – but it also has no problems printing DINA3 paper. The cartridges are not exactly cheap, but the consumption is quite low, so that the costs for new ink are limited. The Brother MFC-J5730DW also saves energy with the inkjet, but it also lacks a card reader and a Bluetooth function. Documents can be printed on both sides thanks to the two integrated paper trays for repeated printing. And here, too, the device can be operated via WLAN with a mobile phone.

5. Kyocera Ecosys M5526cdw

By far the heaviest and most expensive model in this series is the Ecosys M5526cdw from Kyocera. Despite the somewhat higher printing speed than the other devices, this color laser multifunction printer is still fast on the move: Whether printing or scanning, copying or faxing – no problem for the high-performance and durable model. Thanks to the integrated duplex unit, high-resolution black and white and color prints on both sides are also possible here. You can operate the device with your smartphone via WLAN and a mobile app for iOS and Android to scan or print documents.
