Apparently more effort than expected: Princess Madeleine still has to be patient with the move to Sweden. It has been postponed to 2024.

When the royal court of Sweden announced the good news in March, Princess Madeleine (41) will move back to Sweden with her family from Florida, the effort involved in moving was probably underestimated. Now it looks as if King Carl XVI. Gustaf (77) and Queen Silvia (79) have to be patient for some time until they permanently present their youngest daughter together with husband Chris O’Neill (49) and their three children Leonore (9), Nicolas (8) and Adrienne (5). have place around.

Move postponed to 2024

The head of the royal information department Margareta Thorgren said the Swedish news portal “Expressen” on the current status of the relocation plans: “According to the information available to me, it will be postponed to 2024.” However, the plan still provides for the family to move from the USA to Sweden.

But why is the move not taking place this fall as planned? “It’s just that the time for the family, with everything that a move entails, was a little too short,” the spokeswoman is quoted as saying. She did not comment further on the reasons for the delay. However, she confirmed that Princess Leonore, Prince Nicolas and Princess Adrienne will attend school and preschool respectively in the United States in the fall.

Summer in Sweden instead of lugging boxes

But even though Princess Madeleine and her family’s move has been pushed back in time, that doesn’t mean they have to go without them in Sweden. According to Thorgren, the five plan to spend the summer in Madeleine’s homeland. The perfect attunement to the upcoming move?

The basis for the new center of life has apparently been fixed since March. In an official statement, the royal family announced a few months ago: “Her Royal Highness Princess Madeleine and Mr. Christopher O’Neill will move to Stockholm with their children in August 2023.” The family will permanently reside in an apartment in the Royal Stables in the Swedish capital.

The family last moved about five years ago: in the summer of 2018, Madeleine and her small family left their adopted home of London to move to Florida. She met her husband Chris O’Neil while she was in New York, where Leonore, the couple’s first daughter, was born in 2014.
