Her refusal is presented so charmingly that William and Charlotte are rewarded with many likes. Only one post could inspire more.

Prince William (41) and his daughter Charlotte (8) the day before the final of the FIFA Women’s World Cup on Sunday (20 August) in Sydney, Australia. released a video clip apologizing for their absence from the event and wishing the English team, the “Lionesses”, the best of luck.

“Lionesses, wish you the best of luck for tomorrow. We’re sorry we can’t be there in person,” William says in the video while sitting on a bench next to his daughter. “But we’re so proud of everything you’ve accomplished and the millions you’ve inspired here and around the world,” he added, adding, “So go out tomorrow and have a really good time.” Princess Charlotte, with a soccer ball on her lap, joins in and wishes: “Good luck, Lionesses!”

Only one post recently collected more likes

For the sweet clip, which was published on Instagram on Saturday evening, the two had collected more than 450,000 likes by Sunday morning alone. That’s a record for the Royal Couple of Wales. Just the birthday post for Charlotte’s brotherPrince George (10), on July 22, attracted even more followers with a million likes.

“It is understood that William has made the decision to forego long-haul flights for a very short stay in Australia,” the BBC reported. “The Prince has made tackling climate change one of his priorities and is believed to be concerned about the impact of such a trip.”

Not Charlotte’s first video greeting

The new video greeting is not the first time that Charlotte, in particular, has delighted with such a greeting to the England women’s national football team. Even before the team’s European Championship final last summer at London’s Wembley Stadium, she and her father published a joint video greeting on Instagram.

“We both want to wish the Lionesses the very best of luck for tonight. You played an incredible competition and we have our fingers crossed that you make it,” William said in the selfie video clip, which was captured in a garden. Charlotte, who was sitting on his lap at the time, added: “Good luck, I hope you win. Bye!”

The England vs Spain final kicks off on Sunday at 12pm (CEST)…
