A bitter loss for Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan: Bennett Levine, who was responsible for their TV productions, has resigned.

It is another serious blow to the ambitious plans of Prince Harry (39) and Duchess Meghan (42). As the British newspaper “The Times” reports on its website, among others, Bennett Levine, an executive at the production company Archewell Productions, left the company in January. Among other things, Levine was co-responsible for the Netflix series “Harry & Meghan,” which was released in December 2022. He left Harry and Meghan at his own request.

Levine has since confirmed on his official social media account on LinkedIn the end of Archewell Productions. There he wrote that he was looking forward to his new job at Cinetic Media, without going into the reasons for leaving the Royals. Harry and Meghan’s production company was founded in 2020 and is said to have earned around 90 million euros from the Netflix deal alone. There is also further income, including a rumored 18 million euros from Spotify – including for the resounding failure of the Meghan podcast.

Levine’s predecessor as head of the Archewell TV division, Oscar-winning producer Ben Browning (43), who, in addition to “Harry & Meghan”, also created the less successful Meghan and Harry miniseries “Live to Lead”, also announced last year. Levine, who had been on board since 2021, followed his former boss as manager. According to a report in the Daily Mail Bennett is now the 17th employee to voluntarily leave the Sussexes since their wedding in 2018. At least eight of the ex-employees have resigned since Harry and Meghan moved their homes to California in 2020 following Megxit.

What happens after the Netflix deal expires next year?

For a few weeks now there has been repeated speculation about Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan’s deal with Netflix, which expires in 2025. After the end of the agreements with Spotify, the Netflix deal is currently the only one of the two with a major streaming provider. It is possible that this will no longer be extended after it expires. However, according to rumors, the royals are already in talks with the Paramount Global Group, whose streaming service Paramount+ was launched in 2021.

Harry and Meghan’s specific plans are still completely unclear. Meghan simply said on a red carpet in Los Angeles before Christmas that they had “a lot of exciting things” in store. She promised that her upcoming announcements would “make people feel good” when they see her productions.
