In the UK, cybercriminals are disseminating fabricated interviews with Harry and Meghan to rip off citizens.

Fraudsters in the UK are apparently increasingly using fake interviews and photos of Prince Harry (37), Duchess Meghan (40) and other celebrities to cheat internet users out of their money. This is reported, among other things, by the British BBC.

Corresponding information from consumers to the Financial Market Authority FCA has increased by more than 400 percent in the past five years. According to the FCA, more than 34,000 reports were received in 2021, compared to around 8,000 in 2016. Citizens “should be very careful” when they see advertisements for investment opportunities in which celebrities allegedly promise high returns, a spokeswoman said.

Articles with made-up TV interviews

Links to fake articles on social media platforms have apparently been making the rounds lately. “People make millions from home with Harry and Meghan’s latest advice,” is one of the headlines used. The articles make the fake claim that the two allegedly support certain investment models related to Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies in TV interviews. However, these interviews never took place. Meghan and Harry’s deputies have been informed of the matter.

In the invented articles, among other things, logos of established media such as the BBC, the “Guardian” or “Forbes” were used. In addition, entrepreneurs such as Bill Gates (66), Richard Branson (71) and Mark Zuckerberg (37) are mentioned again and again. In addition, alleged investors are quoted. One of the quotes is something like: “My ex-girlfriend left me because I was too poor. Now I’m a multi-millionaire and have an even better girlfriend.”
